HueFlux
HueFlux is a real-time colored symbol sentiment indicator system. It quantifies internal and external stakeholder sentiment and displays the result in 1 of seven colored symbols.
HueFlux exhibits several concepts and theories, including sentiment analysis, stakeholder theory, feedback loops, standards, CSR theory, real-time data analytics, and behavioral economics. Its capacity to collect, display, and interpret sentiment data from various stakeholders gives organizations a powerful tool for integrating stakeholder opinions into project management, stakeholder Sentiment Reporting, and overall decision-making processes.
HueFlux is owned by Beyond Programs Ltd and is distributed under Creative Commons license CC BY-NC-SA. We invite Governments, Universities, Not-For-Profit, and other non commercial utilizations of HueFlux. If interested in a commercial license, contact Beyond Programs Ltd.

HueFlux
This system was designed to better track and showcase the sentiment of all project stakeholders. It uses natural color blending rules making calculation and comprehension easy for mass audiences.
Its design includes a circle containing the sentiment color and a hand oriented in three-dimensional space. The hand is based on the right hand rule in mathematics and physics. The right hand rule is a mnemonic which shows the direction of the cross product of two vectors and the axis of rotation of a force. In our case, the two vectors are internal and external stakeholders and the axis of rotation is the circle. The colors depict the level of force.
How It Works
HueFlux uses naturally occurring color blending science to calculate the result e.g. Blue + Red = purple. The system prescribes assigning specific colors to internal VS external stakeholders. The system also differentiates between positive and negative sentiment. Until there is enough information to make a calculation, the HueFlux indicator is left colorless.
The version of HueFlux that we use on FolioProjects, has weights assigned to stakeholders. So an external stakeholder can theoretically have their sentiment count more towards the final result than internal stakeholders. A strong example of this is projects where the customer’s satisfaction is high priority.
Analytics
HueFlux provides deep analytical data. Behind every HueFlux symbol, is a calculation of submitted data from end users. That data can be recorded in any medium including video, speach, text, or digital.
User sentiment is collected based on a particular data point (e.g. is the ice cream at this store good?). The calculations that are used for HueFlux can change between different data points. This flexibility allows users to adapt HueFlux as needed to their specific circumstances.
Along with the sentiment itself, other meta data can be collected like location, time, etc. Only one sentiment record should be collected per user, per data point (e.g. did you enjoy your stay today?).
HueFlux On FolioProjects
FolioProjects provides a few ways to communicate with stakeholders. Our HueFlux system is unique and baked into the core of the platform. You will notice the HueFlux icon everywhere on the website including projects, portfolios, and even in the logo.
You configure how the HueFlux system works in the settings area of each project. Ultimately, the system provides all stakeholders with 2 icons to choose from. The icons always line up with positive on the left and negative on the right. The negative icon is always red. The colors are assigned based on the settings and the users relationship with the project (e.g. visitor VS project member).
Note that each project and portfolio also offers a broadcast feature in the header of the dashbaord. This broadcast feature is designed to share your HueFlux sentiment on websites via iframes and on digital screens. Both portfolios and projects automatically review, calculate, and update the HueFlux display.
Why Use HueFlux?
HueFlux supports the dessemniation of large amounts of sentiment data for easy consumption be the masses. It provides the viewer with deep insight into the subject matter it is focused on.
The HueFlux design makes it perfect for a range of visual mediums including print, screens, and online (e,g, websites and social media). This flexibility is useful for mass distribution especially in areas of the world lacking cellphone or online access (e.g. underground and remote areas).
The system is easy to use, share, and understand on purpose. It's also easy to add on to the system where needed, creating derivitive systems (Review the license). The system is designed to share sentiment on any activity that has stakeholders.
HueFlux Use Cases
- Example #1: Our Canadian project management team at Beyond Programs Ltd analyzed major Government project in British Columbia where the business is based. We analyzed these projects using our HueFlux sentiment system and Machine Learning Large Language Models (LLMs). We compiled all of this information into an infographic.
